“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory” Dr Seuss
The end of Term 3 has been a busy one for our school and we’re happy to say that together we made it through what has been a constantly changing situation. I am proud to report that the majority of SE2 students have been diligently turning up for MS Teams meetings and showcasing their work in a range of formats. A special mention goes to Benjamin Young for his excellent participation and application across all subjects and Christopher Lee for consistently submitting work and maintaining a strong online presence. I would also like to encourage Noah, Rory, Xander and Jacky, and say how delighted I am with their contributions in Teams meetings and their presence in Year Assemblies, often wearing fancy dress.
Remote learning, supported by our team of hardworking, innnovative teachers and dedicated SLSOs, has been a resounding success and we have come together to overcome many barriers to learning.
SE2 have been busy at home making banana muffins, French toast, Aussie meat pies and cupcakes in Food Technology. They have studied Myths & Legends from around the world in English, Living Things in Science, Still Life in Visual Arts and more. They are currently revisiting fractions, working with money, and completing budgeting activities in Maths, and transferring these skills to real world problems in Community Access.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank SE2 students and their families who supported learning from home, and embraced Canvas in such a short amount of time. We are fortunate at Port Hacking High to have such a sophisticated online learning management system (LMS), and I thank you for your patience and perseverance with regards to learning its functions.
We are in this together and I can’t wait to get back to the classroom in Term 4 and see all your smiling faces. Keep up the good work SE2. I hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break over the holidays and is looking forward to the Covid-safe return to school that we are planning for Term 4.
Try and go for a walk, have a swim at the beach, get some sunshine and spend time away from the screen.
