Exercise the Mood is a positive psychology wellbeing program, initiated by Head Teacher Wellbeing Mr Papangelis and our school counsellors, to combine exercise with mindfulness for a positive start to the day.

This term, boys in Years 7-10 are invited to attend the gym at 8am and then engage in mindfulness training before they start the day. Any students who would like to attend, please see Mr Paps for more information.

On Tuesdays, Mr Baxter is training our Year 9 and 10 students at 8am, followed by our Senior Psychologist Education Mirela Fricot with mindfulness.

On Thursdays, Mr Gemmell and Mr Clarke are training our Year 7 and 8 students at 8am, followed by our school counsellor Isabel Pardo-Clapham with mindfulness.

Research shows that mindfulness:
• Increases self-awareness, social awareness, and self-confidence
• Increases emotional self-regulation
• Reduces the severity of depression, anxiety and ADHD
• Builds resilience
• Sharpens focus and concentration.

Mindfulness is about focusing attention on the present and in so doing, makes us less vulnerable to unhelpful emotions which are triggered by thoughts of the past or worries for the future.

Thanks to all involved!
