During Term 2, students in SE2 participated in a visual arts unit, Fantasy Masks. Students made preliminary designs of their ideas for their masks. Referring to their designs, they then modified their masks by cutting away sections or adding other materials such as cardboard and papier mâché. Students enjoyed painting and decorating their work.
In Term 3, students learnt about printmaking. As a lead up activity, students reproduced the famous artwork, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, by Hokusai (1829-1833). Students enlarged the artwork to scale using a grid. After completing their sketch of the work, they used watercolours and black texta to match the colours of the work.
