TAS Industrial Arts

TAS Industrial Arts

Students are given the opportunity to study Technology Mandatory, in Year 7 and 8, where they will study 4 context areas; Digital Technologies, Material Technology 1, Material Technology 2, Engineered Systems. Students have the opportunity to become innovative creators of digital technologies and users of digital systems. Apply specialist skills and techniques to a broad range of traditional, contemporary and advancing materials, making products to satisfy identified needs and opportunities. Students are provided with opportunities to experiment and develop prototypes to test their solutions. They understand how forces and the properties of materials affect the behaviour and performance of engineered systems, machines and structures. Knowledge of these principles and systems enables the design and production of sustainable, engineered solutions

  • Years 11 and 12 give students the opportunity to further investigate and develop their skills and knowledge through Industrial Technology Timber or Design and Technology, projecting into Year 12 where students apply their skills and knowledge to the design and construction of a Major Project of their choice. Students may also choose to study Information Processes and Technology (IPT) or Engineering Studies.

The Engineering Studies course offer students knowledge, understanding and skills in aspects of engineering that include communication, engineering mechanics/hydraulics, engineering materials, historical/societal influences, engineering electricity/electronics, and the scope of the profession. Students study engineering by investigating a range of applications and fields of engineering.

We also offer Construction as a VET subject, which is a TAFE aligned course giving students the opportunity to obtain a Certificate II in Construction Pathways. Students complete 70 hours of work placement and participate in many school based construction projects in Carpentry, concreting and landscaping.
